A spectacular pair of “Traineau” chairs (meaning “sled” in French), designed by the French firm Baumann during the 1960s in a Mid-century style with a clear Scandinavian influence. They feature a curved wooden frame with no visible joints and high-quality, grained red leather seats.

Their most distinctive element is the curved, arched backrest. The vertical wooden slats flow smoothly down and extend beyond the seat, joining directly with the rear legs or crossbars, mimicking the runners of a traditional sled and giving the design its name, which became one of the company's most celebrated.

Baumann was founded by Emile Baumann, a Swiss-born manufacturer, but the company was officially established in 1901 in Colombier-Fontaine, France.
