Architect: Arnošt Beck
This pair of armchairs is a premier example of interwar furniture design in the pure Bauhaus style from the 1930s. This timeless and architecturally precise model was designed by the celebrated architect Arnošt Beck and manufactured in Czechoslovakia. The chairs represent the absolute pinnacle of functionalist aesthetics, where the sleek curves of bent steel meet ultimate lounging comfort.
As part of a comprehensive professional restoration, the armchairs have been brought to a state of pristine luxury. The original cantilever frame made of tubular chrome-plated steel was professionally cleaned and polished to a brilliant mirror finish, providing its signature flexible support and visual weightlessness. The chairs feature entirely new spring-based upholstery handcrafted according to traditional techniques, covered in very high-quality genuine Italian leather in a deep, sophisticated wine-red shade with a beautiful subtle grain.
An extraordinary design highlight is found in the armrests crafted from solid beech wood. These have been meticulously finished in black piano lacquer and polished to a luxurious high-gloss. The dramatic contrast between the rich red leather, the mirror-like chrome, and the deep black armrests creates a stunning visual harmony. This impeccably restored pair of armchairs represents a top-tier collector's and investment opportunity, perfect as a centerpiece for any modern salon, villa, or executive office.
