This figurine bears his ID … Read more Zebedee Nungak is a Canadian Inuk author, journalist, politician, and cultural advocate from Nunavik, Quebec. This figurine bears his ID Disc number E9-1956. This Canadian Government system of identification of the Inuit people was only used from 1941-1978, however, Zebedee grew found of ID Disc number and felt it was part of his identity. A survivor of the federal “Eskimo Experiment,” he became a key negotiator of the 1975 James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, co-chaired the Inuit Committee on National Issues, and served as president of Makivik Corporation. I love the likeness of a seal and the warm feel of this piece. See less
