Carved as a traditional image for dressing and devotion, the sculpture presents the Virgin standing frontally while holding the Christ Child upon her left arm. The composition retains the solemnity and spiritual presence characteristic of Baroque religious imagery from the Hispanic world. The figure is accompanied by elaborate devotional crowns, likely of colonial Peruvian origin, including a large radiant crown for the Virgin and a smaller crown for the Child. These historic additions contribute significantly to the visual impact and devotional character of the ensemble. The sculpture has undergone extensive restoration during its lifetime, including significant interventions to the original polychromy and surface finish.
