This antique vase, in its own way, tells the story of the creative freedom of 1920s Sarreguemines, somewhere between the bohemian potter's workshop and the decorative flourishes of Art Deco. Of generous size, its slender silhouette displays an absolutely charming polychrome decoration. Against a deep blue glazed background, ferns and plant stems rise elegantly, while golden ochre spirals evoke fern fronds or small, sleeping snails\.
The vase is antique and dates from the 1920s. It is made of glazed terracotta. Significant chips in the glaze and some material loss at the base are visible in the photos.
11cm in diameter, 22cm high
