This beautiful and rare set of six glasses is a fine example of European-made artistic glassware in the Saint Louis style, dating from the first half of the 20th century.
It comprises a set of six blown glass glasses in a deep emerald green or moss green colour.
The colour is achieved by adding metal oxides to the molten glass mass.
This set of glasses, never before on the market, comes from an important Italian private collection
The body is embellished with a rich decoration in pure gold, applied with a brush and subsequently fired in a kiln.
It features a thick gold band with a finely engraved Greek fret or vine motif.
The main decoration is in the Neoclassical or Empire style, characterised by garlands of laurel leaves tied with symmetrical ribbons and bows, which lend the piece a solemn elegance.
The shape is that of a cylindrical Moorish-style tumbler used for tea or as a liqueur glass.
The style evokes the taste of the Belle Époque, with influences ranging from Neoclassicism to early Art Nouveau. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
