A beautiful pair of vintage Italian wall bracket shelves crafted from a rich mahogany-family hardwood — likely mahogany or sapele … Read more A beautiful pair of vintage Italian wall bracket shelves crafted from a rich mahogany-family hardwood — likely mahogany or sapele — with hand painted musical themed gold decorations. Each triangular corbel features a delicate painted border of leaf garlands and a central gold motif — one depicting a trumpet, the other a harp in the Neoclassical style. Both shelves are finished with a turned wood finial at the bottom, adding an elegant architectural detail. The wood finial on the shelf with trumpet motif appears to have been repaired with some glue.

The back of each shelf has a "Made in Italy" mark along with a heraldic maker's stamp: a divided shield featuring winged griffins or eagles in the upper half and a single eagle's head in the lower half, with a scroll banner beneath carrying a partially legible Latin-style motto. Consistent with mid-20th century Italian craft workshop production of some prestige.
