This is a modern twist on a sugar chest. It appears to be made of oak that is stained a deep reddish brown color. It weighs over 8 pounds. The craftsmanship is awesome.
The carrying and opening handles are curved to accommodate your fingers touch. The hardware hinges appear to be brass. The plaques are made of a resin material with beautifully scrolled lettering. The “Sugar Chest” plaques are marked on both sides. The sectioned interior has a type of dovetailing that makes it stalwart.
This was crafted by a Pennsylvanian man in the 1990’s that used to refurbish farmhouses. It is unsigned.
