An exceptionally detailed mid-20th-century Japanese Kutani porcelain Komainu (Shishi / Guardian Lion Dog) okimono figurine. This striking talismanic sculpture is traditionally hand-painted using the distinctive, raised moriage slip technique, rendering a tactile, richly textured brick-red body.
The guardian lion features a fierce, expressive face highlighted by brilliant gold-gilt teeth, swirling curls, and captivating golden eyes. Its back and limbs are adorned with meticulously painted multi-colored floral medallions and stylized chrysanthemum crests accented with vibrant blue, green, and 24K gold gilding.
