This French Louis XVI style fauteuil is a beautiful example of late 18th-century neoclassical design, reflecting the style of Louis XVI era. Features a classic French round medallion back and a crème-peinte, distressed frame with clean, architectural lines. The frame is fluted and channeled all around. It is a great size and very comfortable.
Key details include fluted, tapered legs and carved rosettes on the seat apron. The chair is upholstered in a light yellow, swirling-patterned fabric on both the seat and the oval backrest. It is possible that the upholstery was done in more recent years.
The only marking is Ermel Interiors which was a Spanish home interiors company back in the 1990s. Chair was most likely made in France and exported to the US by Ermel Interiors.
