Tyrean ware Vase
RARE 9.5" Cobalt Vase with hand-applied gilt raised floral motif by George Jones
Beautiful large form and stunning, vibrant color. In great condition. Bottle shaped vase with lovely hand applied botanical decoration. Encircling the base are embossed foliage, subtle and ungilded. along the top are scattered flowers, texture hand applied and gilded. All rim edges are gilded as well, with further hand applied details added to the secondary bubble in the form of small beading. The tulip/bell shaped mouth is fluted.
George Jones was a prolific and highly successful pottery merchant in the mid to late 19th century. His pieces are highly regarded for their beauty and quality to this day.
