Artist: Vilhelm Bjerke-Petersen
About the Artist: Vilhelm Bjerke-Petersen (1909–1957) was a Danish painter, writer, and leading advocate of Surrealism in Scandinavia. Influenced by European avant-garde movements, he studied at the Bauhaus and introduced abstract and surrealist ideas to Danish art through both his paintings and theoretical writings. His work is characterized by biomorphic forms, dreamlike imagery, and an exploration of the subconscious, making him a pivotal figure in the development of modern art in Denmark.
