Made in the Art Nouveau taste, this pier-style mirror is composed of an original, elongated beveled mirror plate that displays an intriguing haze of dark foxing throughout, towering over the console/cabinet and shelves (secured by a series of dowels to disassemble as needed). All the wooden construction is painted in a thick creamy white with parcel gilt details to achieve a sense of lightness against the grand proportions. A stylized pediment above the glass features a gilded floral crown which sets the tone for the biophilic and gilt elements worked into every component of the frame, as botanical references, rosettes, or simply lines painted on the turned wood baluster columns. At the waist is a small inset surface of red marble, the perfect drop-area console for keys and other personal effects. The stone features exciting movement of deep red and gray veining which complements the openwork frame using curvaceous brackets to support the shelves. Below the marble surface is a wide cabinet enclosed by a fall-front door graced by the gilded cameo of a woman in profile surrounded by fantastic gilt blossoms. An open shelf at the feet adds further surface area for decoration or storage depending on the context. Gently cleaned and polished, ready to be installed in your interior. We believe this to be in good antique condition considering its age, and any visible signs of wear are captured in the photos.
