The rare and early wooden rocking chair designed by Ralph Rapson for Knoll is circa 1940. It features original solid birch wood frame with more recent black webbed seat. Ralph Rapson was born in Alma, Michigan in 1914. Between 1938 and 1942 he pursued graduate studies at Cranbrook Academy of Art and worked as a designer in Eliel and Eero Saarinen’s private architectural practice. Rapson ultimately established himself as principle in his own firm gaining prominence as a mid-century modernist architect. He died in 2008.
CONDITION
Very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use.
