Distinguished by an uncommon and sophisticated color story, these pieces feature a dreamy periwinkle-lavender ground glaze rather than the traditional stark white or terracotta backgrounds. The interiors are meticulously hand-painted with an all-over composition of delicate botanical sprigs, multi-petaled blossoms, and flowing vines executed in a rich, deep cobalt blue.
The reverse sides are equally striking, finished in a glossy, saturated cornflower blue glaze that highlights the hand-thrown ripples of the clay, framing the unglazed, raw earthenware foot rim. Because each piece is entirely handmade, they display delightful, subtle variations in glaze pooling and brushwork that give them an undeniable heirloom character.

One platter features a minute, incredibly faint surface chip/glaze flake near the center of the interior floral pattern. Due to the dense, hand-painted cobalt brushstrokes, this imperfection is virtually invisible to the eye, blends seamlessly into the organic design, and does not compromise the display quality or structural integrity of the piece. less
