A heavy alabaster base, a slender column, and atop it a large opaline glass sphere that almost seems to float. The design plays with contrast. The perfect round shape of the glass stands in opposition to the natural grain of the alabaster. Cast brass elements have been applied around the base, reminiscent of leaves or aquatic plants. They appear to work their way up from the stone, giving the lamps an organic accent without disturbing the tranquility of the design. The large opaline glass spheres spread a pleasant, diffused light. Not a harsh light source, but a warm, even glow that creates atmosphere without being overpowering. As a result, the lamps function both as lighting and as decorative objects. What makes this set attractive is that the lamps reveal something different from every angle. from a distance, the design looks sleek and almost architectural. Closer up, however, the nuances in the alabaster become visible, as well as the refinement of the brass details and the subtle transitions between the different materials.
