Michael Mode handcrafted spalted maple burl wood lidded box or jar. Features rich graining and contrasting dark spalting lines characteristic of an expertly turned wooden vessel with natural live-edge lid. Stunning.

Born in Pennsylvania in 1946, Michael Mode is a self-taught woodturner highly celebrated for his early signature series of artistic turned lidded vessels. His early work from the 1970s through the 1990s focused heavily on organic, closed-form containers that paired highly polished turned bodies with natural, raw burl cap lids.
