a spectacular pair of ds-159 armchairs by the swiss firm de sede, complete with a plaque. They closely follow the iconic design of the florence chair by florence knoll for knoll, a kind of scaled-down translation of the rhythm and proportions of mid-century modern architecture. The ds-159 features a chrome-plated steel frame and button-tufted upholstery in glossy red leather. The seat and backrest use special sedex foam. It stands out for its clean, understated, and minimalist lines.
the swiss firm sede is one of the most respected names worldwide in luxury furniture design and fine saddlery. Its international prestige is based on the sophistication of its forms, its advanced modular engineering, and, above all, a handcrafted treatment of leather that is virtually unsurpassed in the industry. Its story began in 1962, when master craftsman ernst lüthy opened a small workshop for upholstery and saddle making in klingnau, switzerland.
the firm is renowned for using only the highest quality leathers from cattle raised in optimal conditions in central europe. The stitching, button quilting, technical topstitching, and assembly of the frames are still done by hand at its headquarters in klingnau.
today, the brand exports to more than 69 countries and collaborates with both its in-house design team and world-class architects. Over the decades, it has collaborated with renowned external designers such as santiago calatrava, mathias hoffmann, and gordon guillaumier. This piece has an attribution mark,
