It was originally designed and produced in the mid-century modern era, specifically during the 1950s. It is made from clear, heavy crystal and features a distinct organic, hand blown shape. It was this beautiful manta wave type shape that, originally, prompted the (then) 13 year old seller's love of all things Daum. So, for this seller, it is less of a swallowtail and more of a manta. At 26.5 inches, this piece is the longest of the Swallowtail models.

This rare, exhibition-scale masterwork measures an incredible 26.5 inches in length, representing one of the largest and most dramatic sizes produced by Daum during this era. Its massive scale, brilliant clarity, and exceptional fluid design make it a commanding focal point for any dining table, sideboard, or luxury interior space. This piece has been meticulously cared for. It features absolutely zero chips, cracks, flea bites, or notable surface scratches. There are a few light table scratches on the bottom. The crystal remains remarkably clear and bright with excellent light refraction. The authentically hand-etched "Daum France" signature is clearly visible on the lower side of the base.
Because these pieces were entirely hand-stretched and sculpted by Daum’s master craftsmen, no two are identical, making this highly elongated version an extraordinary find for serious art glass collectors. This piece weighs 12.8 lbs so pick it up very carefully. It has survived for 75 years with no damage and let us intend that it survives for at least another 75 years in the same fashion. See less
