The upper half decorated with hand-painted industrial cityscape of Dunaújváros, the city which became the ''trademark city'' of socialism in Hungary. In 1949 Dunaújváros was chosen as the site of the largest iron and steelworks in the country. The cityscape painted on the vase betrays influences both of naive art and the 1930s Hungarian graphic design. The vase is a typical product of ''socialist modernism.'' See less
