This antique hunting walking stick-seat is one of those rare objects that have stood the test of time without losing … Read more This antique hunting walking stick-seat is one of those rare objects that have stood the test of time without losing their character. The main shaft is made of varnished bamboo-style wood, topped with a handsome curved wooden handle. In the middle, a metal collar mechanism allows a tripod metal frame to be deployed, supporting a triangular seat of thick burgundy leather, carefully stitched and riveted at the three corners. The lower tip, fitted with a protective disc and a spike, was designed to anchor itself discreetly in grass or soft earth. The whole piece bears a beautiful patina: a gentle green oxidation on the metal parts, natural cracks in the leather, and some wear on the wood. An authentic, charming, and surprisingly functional object, it would be equally at home in a library or a characterful interior.
