It comes with an old, ornate, dark cast brass 6" ceiling canopy plus about one foot of silvery chain. This will give it more than a 3-foot (36") total drop from a ceiling.

It can be attributed to the.1920's and is full of great detail in all its castings, crystal and smooth black glass center, with a line of design seen at the crystal level. It is designed in a Baroque/Rococo revival manner., suggesting strong 18th century European influence. We put on new candle covers (over the sockets) that go with the original decorative pieces on the chandelier meant for sliding over the covers (and acting as sleeves to help hold the "candles" in place.)

It appears to have only one distinct marking on it (shown in the pictures): that of a maned lion walking level on all four feet to the right. These details help determine origins. This marking is on the center larger piece and is visible looking up from the bottom on the outside of the chandelier. It is called "lion passant," suggesting it is most likely American-made (possibly by the Gorham Manufacturing Co).

The original finish of this chandelier is silver=plating, now mostly tarnished gray.

It has a surprising amount of weight when lifted (nearly 16 lbs.). We restored it fully by cleaning, rewiring, making all pieces good, tight, and straight as possible, finishing it with all that is needed to hang right away on a ceiling. The crystal drops adorning the fixture are finely cut.
