This extraordinary Orthodox sacred icon depicts the intense image of Christ the Pathokrator and is accompanied by precious period documentation certifying its authenticity.

Subject and Style: The face of Jesus is painted according to the rigorous hieraticism of Eastern tradition. His severe and expressive features, characterized by large, wide-open eyes and a thick beard, stand out against a completely gold background. The figure is enclosed in a circular halo, surrounded by a perimeter frame finely decorated with geometric motifs and relief carvings.

Material and Finish: The icon is entirely crafted on a thick, solid wood panel, which displays the characteristic natural grain and typical patina of the centuries on the back. Significantly increasing its collector's value is the precious original gallery kit included: an official cover letter on "Arte Europa" letterhead dated November 19, 1991, and the corresponding paper "Certificate of Authenticity" signed by the appraiser, who estimates the workmanship to be between the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
