Antique English kidney-shaped women's writing desk from the Victorian era. A dark leather writing surface with gold-tooled decorative borders, and beautiful, highly figured burr walnut veneer.
It is a pedestal-style layout with a central drawer over the kneehole flanked by two banks of deep, curved graduating drawers, offering generous storage. The kneehole is quite narrow (19 inches wide and 22 inches high) so it's best suited to someone smaller in stature.
The interior features primitive, hand-crafted construction with original hand-cut square nuts securing the hardware backplates.
It has an incredible presence and functions beautifully as a unique, character-rich centerpiece for a home office or as a beauty desk in the bedroom.
