The shape of the neck evokes the corolla of a flower. The glaze is textured, nuanced, and closely resembles the material itself, appearing in shades of brown to yellow on the exterior and celadon blue to brown on the interior.

with its free-form, swirling shape, the vase is truly original. Made by the Accolay potters, it is signed with a stylus on the underside and is in excellent condition.

In the mid-20th century, Accolay was the cradle of a true revolution in ceramics. Four former students of Alexandre Kostanda settled in the small village in the Yonne region in the mid-1940s, and many potters followed their example. For about forty years, the production of the potters of Accolay was impressive, original and bold, characterized by thick, often speckled enamels and wild creativity. See less
