Stunning 19th Century English Bamboo Chinoiserie Tortoise Shell Magazine Stand.
he frame is built from natural bamboo shoots treated with flame scorching.
This technique darkens localized sections of the stalk, achieving a rich, multi-toned faux-tortoiseshell patina.
The central insert and the wider bottom platform feature flat, black-lacquered panels. These panels are embellished with hand-painted, Japanese maple leaf motifs and traditional speckled patterning,
