Shifting away from the traditional earthy ochre tones, this rare variant features a stunning, crisp white-glazed basketweave body. It is masterfully highlighted with high-relief molded blackberry briar vines, leaves, and berries glazed in a rich, deeply saturated cobalt blue.

The plural marking "MINTONS" (with an "S") first appeared in 1873. It replaced the singular "MINTON" marking to reflect the company's official name change to Mintons and the transition of the business to a limited liability company, Mintons Ltd, later in that decade.

The beehive cheese domes produced after 1873 feature the impressed "MINTONS" mark on the underside of the base plate as this one does.
