This corner desk is the matching Thomasville Allegro faux-bamboo corner vanity or writing desk from the same 1966 collection and includes the matching chair. The pearl vinyl seat complements the yellow frame nicely.
Perfect for palm beach regency or coastal setting. This corner desk with matching chair fits beautifully in a room's corner with a spacious writing, and working space. The desk features one long drawer with original hardware . Dovetailed joints and faux bamboo detailing throughout and a faux wood grain durable laminate top. Use this in an office, bedroom, kitchen corner, or playroom.
It is sturdy and heavy. The top laminate shows no cracks or chips. The paint is worn from previous use and age. At some point over the years, the owner painted over the green accents with beige for a more uniform look.
**Local pickup also is available by buyer or buyer's agent/shipping partner.
***Blue Truck has a scheduled pick up at my location for a separate item in event you’d like to see if they could pick this item up for you to minimize your delivery time.
Purpose of the Cut-out: The opening provides access to the internal hardware used to secure the front legs to the desk's frame. A bolt passes through the leg and into this pocket in the apron, where it is secured with a nut. This "knock-down" design was frequently used for large or complex pieces like corner desks to allow for easier transport and firm re-assembly.
A great piece as-is or many choose to repaint as a statement piece in vibrant pink, orange, green, or blue for a pop of color. (See last photos as example in pink or green). Others stay neutral with white, black, or navy blue. This piece is giving you options to make your own choice. The seat is easily detached if choose to update.

The markings stamped on the underside of the chair identify it as a vintage 1966 Thomasville Faux Bamboo accent chair.
The faded factory stamp on the upper right portion of the wood reads Thomasville Furniture Industries.
The stamp 623-24 corresponds to a specific mid-century faux-bamboo style bedroom and accent suite released around 1966. The suite featured a distinctive bright, faux-bamboo carved wood aesthetic.
The stamp E-1911-01 is the factory tracking or configuration code used by Thomasville to denote the specific framing structure and assembly components of the chair.
This chair features a highly durable, traditional construction method that makes it exceptionally easy to maintain or reupholster.
Chair Structure Benefits
•The triangular wooden blocks in each corner prevent the frame from wobbling over time.
•Heavy-Duty Joinery: Deep wood screws secure the frame together instead of weak staples or glue alone.
•Interlocking Rails: The parallel grooved lines along the sides add surface area for a tighter, more stable joint.
How to Detach the Seat
Removing the seat takes less than five minutes and requires only a screwdriver.
Flip the Chair: Place the chair upside down on a soft surface like a rug to protect the finish.
Locate the Screws: Find the four large wood screws recessed into the diagonal corner blocks.
Unscrew and Lift: Remove all four screws, then pull the seat cushion straight out from the frame.
How Thomasville's Sales Model Worked
Component-Based Ordering:
The corner desk was sold as an individual, single unit a la carte, rather than being forced upon buyers as a mandatory multi-piece set.
Mid-century furniture manufacturers like Thomasville structured their catalog collections so consumers could mix, match, and choose exactly what fit their specific floor plan. You could order the corner desk by itself, or purchase it alongside the matching spindle-back chair.
Modular Integration: While sold individually, the desk was also designed with standard heights and edge configurations so it could fit completely flush alongside matching flat-back pieces. Buyers could choose to place it between two low Allegro dressers or single cabinets to create a continuous, built-in wall vanity unit.
