An exceptional pair of investment grade late 19th to early 20th C French woven silk tapestries by the legendary weavers, Neyret Freres of Saint-Etienne, France.
This beautifully preserved pair features exquisite monochromatic jacquard-woven interpretations of Pierre-August Cot's two most famous romantic masterpieces: "The Storm" and its celebrated companion "Springtime". Both textiles are rendered with incredible tonal depth and razor sharp detail. Both feature the authentic woven manufacturer's initials, N.F in the lower left corner and "d'apres P.A.Cot" in the lower right corner.
Adding value to this pairing is their impeccable provenance. Both silks remain housed in their beautifully aged matching original French period frames and still retain their antique framer's labels affixed to the back dust covers tracing their origin back to the original framers in Northern France.
These have been carefully disassembled and cleaned and retain all of the original components.
