This artwork titled "l'Orchestre" c.1980 is an original color lithograph on Arches paper by noted French artist Claude Weisbuch, 1927-2014. It is hand signed and numbered 10/125in pencil by the artist. The size sheet and image size is 21.10 x 29.10 inches. It is in excellent condition.
About the artist:
Claude Weisbuch was born in Thionville, France on February 8th, 1927. After being a student at the École des Beaux-Arts of Nancy, he was appointed as a professor at the École des Beaux-Arts of Saint-Étienne. Since 1951, his graphic research in painting as well as in etching has brought the attention of Paris critics who, in 1961, awarded him their annual prize.
In 1968, he becomes a titular member of the French painters-engravers. Painter, engraver and exceptional lithographer, Claude Weisbush ceaselessly captures life's dynamics, as would an instant cliché, the pictorial, musical and literary expressions that are essentially human.
Since 1957 - date of his first exhibition in Paris - he has exhibited throughout the world. Numerous museums hold his artworks.
"Explosive but with lyricism, Weisbuch works shout out the most beautiful part of our humanity. The one we ceased to reveal, because of a sense of modesty: flaming passions, courage, terror, nobility… Dominating in his work, by the relief and the velvety line which characterizes dry-point, his etchings are the strongest representations of his figures, intensely alive. The artist's mastery of gesture applied directly on the copper makes of Weisbuch in this discipline an artist who indisputably marked his time" Thierry Lacan.
