This lovely classic vintage green glazed Majolica rabbit platter is made in Portugal by Bordallo Pinheiro. With a basket-weave pattern border, and pairs of bunnies munching on carrots around the edge, this platter makes a perfect accessory to mix and match with other Majolica or china, or as a charming display piece.
The size is 15 1/2 inches wide, and 11 1/2 inches deep, and 1 1/2 inches tall. It is in very nice condition with no chips or cracks. It does have some craze marks on it, as shown in the photos.
Artist, Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro, is associated with artistic ceramics. In 1884 Bordallo began his ceramics production at the Fábrica de Faianças in Caldas, revealing pieces of great technical, artistic and creative quality. His remarkable work with ceramics was awarded with the gold medal in international exhibitions in Madrid, Antwerp, Paris and the United States.
