Romance, symbolism, and refined French design come together in this antique mirror, created in the Louis XVI and Napoleon III tradition with a beautifully detailed crest of lovebirds resting among laurel leaves. The lovebirds bring a tender decorative note, long associated with affection and devotion, while the laurel wreath and classical foliate border speak to the enduring neoclassical language of French interiors.
The arched frame is richly ornamented with delicate floral and foliate details, enhanced by its original timeworn finish and soft patina. The contrast between the darker decorative surface and the warm inner molding gives the mirror depth, character, and a wonderful sense of age. Elegant without being overly formal, it is a romantic accent piece with the quiet presence only antique mirrors can offer.
