A charming pair of antique Japanese porcelain pedestal bowls executed in the refined Hirado style and decorated with karashishi lions, peonies, and scrolling floral vines.
The bowls feature exceptionally fine white porcelain bodies accented with delicate underglaze cobalt blue decoration, subtle gilt outlining, and small touches of coral and turquoise enamel. The interiors depict lively guardian lions among flowering vines and peony blossoms, while the exteriors display elegant stylized motifs above geometric foot rings.
Their restrained palette and refined execution reflect the sophisticated aesthetic associated with Hirado porcelain during the late Meiji and Taishō periods.
Both bowls remain in excellent antique condition and retain remarkable freshness of color and glaze.
