This prints depicts a young woman laying on her side, his her head resting in her hand. She appears to be propped up against a pillow, wearing a bored expression on her face. Held in a black metal frame against a white mat, this print is signed, titled, numbered 78/100 lower edge.

Born in Brooklyn in 1909, Marion Greenwood grew up with an artist for a father and as an older sister. She followed in their footsteps by leaving high school early and enrolling at the Art Students League of New York under a scholarship. She saved up money from portraits she sold to a wealthy financier to travel to Paris to train at Academie Calarossi and continued to travel around the world in the years following. For example, she moved to Mexico in the 1930s where she was commissioned by the Mexican government to paint fresco murals as well as other pieces. Her work has been shown in collections across the country from the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Modern Museum of Art and the Indianapolis Museum of Art. See less
