Beautiful set of 2, flower frog vases made of clear, transparent, glass/crystal with matching pewter bases/holders from reims, france, circa 1960's.
this type of vase is known as a "pique fleurs" in french, and this model, has been elegantly designed with 19 holes in which to place flowers, but could also be used to place other small objects, depending on one's needs. Each vase measures at a height of about 6.5 cm with a diameter of 10.5 cm x 10.5 cm.
they have been designed in the style of other pique fleurs made by vmc, in reims, france. There is not a maker's mark sticker, but on each base are the words "made in france" & "reims" and the number "4", which could indicate a model number, (see photos.)
the matching pair of pewter bases/holders, are both sturdy and elegant. When placed inside of the cups, the vases truly pop in contrast against the silver color, which elevate their overall look (see photos.) underneath, each one carries a french stamp, aka "estampille, an official mark, with a crown, three fleur-de-lys, and the letters, "rf" for "république française", (see photos.)
each one measures at a height of about 8 cm and a diameter of 12 cm x 12 cm.
the set is in overall very good, original and vintage condition.
both vases are in near mint condition, with minuscule traces of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time. No cracks or chips (see photos.) the pewter holders, are also in very good, original vintage condition, with some light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, and a nice patina of time, on the overall structures, edges, necks and bases, which is to be expected for their age. (see photos.) they have only been gently cleaned, with respect to their original patina of time.
a truly exquisite set, that will stand out, whether used as intended on a dining room table, sideboard, as decorative objects, or used for other purposes.
all photos taken in natural indoor light, so colors may vary, based upon brightness, refections, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
