A beautiful set of a near pair of Swedish pine armchairs, consisting of one early Göran Malmvall example and one … Read more A beautiful set of a near pair of Swedish pine armchairs, consisting of one early Göran Malmvall example and one Svensk Fur / Karl Andersson & Söner armchair, Sweden, circa 1940s–1950s.

Both chairs are crafted from solid pine and share the same warm Scandinavian expression: high rectangular backs, rounded edges, splayed legs and simple architectural armrests. They are not an exact pair, but they complement each other beautifully, with subtle differences in height, proportion and construction. This gives the set a wonderfully collected and authentic character.

The chairs have been carefully restored and present in very good vintage condition. The pine has a light natural finish with expressive grain, knots and warm tonal variation throughout. Minor signs of age and use remain, consistent with vintage wooden furniture, adding to their charm and authenticity.

These chairs work beautifully as a sculptural pair in a living room, around a rustic dining table, in a hallway, bedroom or gallery-like interior.

Göran Malmvall was an important Swedish furniture designer and cabinetmaker associated with Karl Andersson & Söner. His pine furniture from the Svensk Fur period is appreciated for its solid construction, architectural simplicity and timeless Nordic character. This piece has an attribution mark,
