The bucket design is made … Read more Antique Swedish country wooden firkin bucket historically used as a lidded sugar or butter bucket. The bucket design is made from interlocking slats held together by supportive bands. The hand-hewn staves suggest that it can be dated from 1850. It has a stationary peg handle with a dowel grip and the original lid. The bucket is coated in a red-brown milk paint stain and has the worn patina associated with time and use. An ink inscription on the underside reads "Jenny, Stockholm 1878" Jenny is most likely the first name of the owner or creator, with Stockholm the city in which the bucket was made in 1878. See less
