this early production example belongs to the highly sought-after evans period, considered by many collectors to represent the most desirable years of lcw manufacture. The original evans products company label remains present beneath the seat.

developed from the eameses' groundbreaking molded plywood experiments of the 1940s, the lcw became one of the most influential furniture designs of the twentieth century. Its sculptural form combines comfort and innovation through carefully shaped plywood elements connected by rubber shock mounts.

the chair remains entirely original and appears never to have been disassembled. It retains its original finish with a beautiful natural patina accumulated over more than seventy years. Surface wear, scratches, age-related marks and color variations are consistent with age and use and contribute to its authenticity.

the original rubber shock mounts remain in place. They show age-related drying and some cracking, as commonly found on early evans-produced examples, but remain functional and the chair can be used normally.
