Horchow previously operated as a luxury home goods brand and was acquired by Neiman Marcus in 1988. Busts are of a man and a woman with expressive faces, hand-painted with vivid features. With striking colors of green, yellow, orange, brown and pink throughout, the figures are dressed in traditional Italian folk attire with colorful makeup accents. Beyond their appeal as standalone sculptural decor, both pieces feature open tops that allow them to double as unique planters. Stamped Horchow maker's mark and Made in Italy stamp on bottom of each bust.
Because these vintage busts have a striking theatrical presence, they make fantastic statement pieces in contemporary homes. As they feature open tops designed to be planters, the look can be changed simply by the type of greenery used.
