An antique late Victorian (circa 1890–1900) ladies’ guard chain and Illinois pocket watch ensemble. The double-rope guard chain is gold-filled and fitted with its original adjustable engraved rectangular slide and heavy dog-clip swivel clasp.
Suspended from the chain is a gold-filled hunter-case pocket watch by the Illinois Watch Company, housing a mechanical movement. The case features high-relief Victorian foliate and floral scrollwork engraving with a solid back and swing-out case construction designed for protection of the movement. Serial number “807355” is present on the interior case.
The clasp is stamped “1/20 12K G.F.” indicating gold-filled construction of the chain and measures 29.5" in length and weighs 37 grams.
A substantial and wearable Victorian-era chain and watch combination with strong period detailing and intact mechanical presence.

Sold as-is. Overall good antique condition. Chain measures 29.5" in length and weighs 37 grams. Chain only is stamped “1/20 12K G.F.” on the clasp, indicating gold-filled construction of the chain. The Illinois pocket watch is separate and is numbered “807355” on the interior of the case. Case Serial Number: Stamped "807355" onto the smooth internal wall of the hinged back case lid compartment. Artisan Bench/Assembly Code: Inscribed "668" by hand directly onto the circular inner metal rim frame facing the watch mechanism's dial swing-joint. This represents the factory craftsman's custom alignment marker used during final production. On the inner rim there is a Historical Jeweler Service Inscription: Hand-scribed alphanumeric code "B839Y" etched delicately into the metal surface close to the Assembly code. This documents the watch's historical maintenance and repair lineage. less
