Rare and beautiful vintage 1920s Van Briggle Pottery “Lorelei”, or Woman in the Well, Ceramic Vase.
Early, sensuous and sculptural, this Arts and Crafts vase features an elongated, organic female form with flowing draped contours suggestive of the Lorelei motif, finished in a soft matte rose glaze that enhances its fluid movement.
Excellent original condition. No chips, cracks, damage or repair of any kind.
Vase is 10 1/2" tall and 4 1/2” wide.
The "Lorelei" vase is known for its Art Nouveau female form sculpted along the side.
Design: Features a figural representation of a lady (Lorelei) relief-carved into the ceramic body. Glaze Color: The matte crimson or deep pink color is consistent with Van Briggle's "Persian Rose" or "Mulberry" glaze.
Maker: Van Briggle Pottery, founded in Colorado Springs.
