A pair of finely hand-painted black lacquered chinoiserie picture frames depicting people, pagoda temples, trees, and plants in a naive, folk-style. The people may be Buddhist monks, as they are all wearing plain robes and hats, some of which have a twirly Doctor Seuss style, which makes the artwork that much more unique, curious, and whimsical. Backed in royal blue velvet with brass clasps, the larger frame has its stand intact, and the smaller one does not. Both come with their original picture glass, which we removed to reduce glare in the photography.
