Framed antique marine life engraving depicting sea anemones, shells, and related ocean specimens rendered in exceptional engraved detail.
Research suggests this engraving may originate from, or be derived from, the natural history works of Johannes Jonston (John Jonston), particularly Historiae Naturalis de Exanguibus Aquaticis, one of the most influential zoological references of the 17th century.
The artwork exhibits numerous characteristics associated with antique book engravings, including a visible plate mark, age-toned paper, period scientific nomenclature, and finely executed engraved line work.
Presented in a handsome burl-style custom frame with archival-style matting. A compelling addition to collections focused on natural history, marine science, curiosity cabinet decor, or early scientific illustration.

Good antique condition. Paper shows age-related toning, foxing, scattered spotting, and creasing. Upper right corner displays a visible crease. Frame exhibits minor wear consistent with age and display. Professionally framed and ready to hang.
