The composition depicts noble figures, attendants, an ox drawn cart, mounted rider, and ceremonial participants traveling through a stylized landscape of mountains and windswept pines, evoking the refined atmosphere of Japan's Heian period. Executed in traditional mineral pigments and ink on paper with silk brocade borders, the screen displays a warm, glowing palette accented by delicate linework and decorative details. Black lacquered framing, decorative embossed metal hinge covers, and patterned silk brocade borders lend a refined architectural presence while reinforcing the screen's traditional Japanese character. The reverse side is covered in a striking geometric textile pattern, making the screen attractive from either direction. The artist's signature and seal appear in the lower left panel.
