The rectangular … Read more An exceptional English George III period walnut lowboy dressing table, dating to the late 18th century (circa 1770). The rectangular top sits above a traditional configuration of three drawers: one shallow central drawer flanked by two deeper side drawers. Each drawer front features highly-figured walnut veneers framed by elegant, light-wood string inlay borders. The drawers open via period-appropriate brass batwing backplates with drop bail handles and central escutcheons.The piece features a beautifully shaped, scrolled, and scalloped apron, elevated by elegant cabriole legs terminating in classic pad feet. The exceptional construction is visible throughout the secondary timbering, showcasing hand-cut dovetails, quartersawn oak drawer linings, and front-to-back oriented drawer bottoms with applied side runners. This piece exhibits excellent historic patina, natural oxidation, and historic wear consistent with its 250-year age. A superb statement piece ideal for a hallway, living room, or bedroom. See less
