The hull is wooden with a cream and red paint and is finished with natural canvas or linen sails.
These model yachts were popular across the UK and France and both vintage and newer models can still be seen in the Grand Bassin of the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris. This tradition began in 1927 when a craftsman named Clement Paudeau began renting handmade wooden sailboats to park visitors. The wooden boats have no remote control or motors and are moved along with bamboo sticks. The boats can be rented or one may bring their own yacht.
The vintage yachts are frequently used as decor accents for homes and restaurants and are collected as historical folk art. See less
