Chairish Description:
A charming antique Victorian rocking chair featuring an unusual hand-carved foliate face crest reminiscent of Green Man and folk art motifs popular during the late nineteenth century.
Constructed of solid hardwood with a shaped saddle seat, turned spindle back, and gracefully curved rockers. The expressive carved face creates a distinctive focal point and gives the chair exceptional character.
The chair retains its aged dark reddish-brown finish with substantial wear from generations of use. Areas of finish loss are present on the seat, arms, crest rail, and rockers. An older repair is visible on one side support, along with scattered nicks, scratches, and age-related surface wear throughout.
A wonderful decorative piece for a Victorian, Arts & Crafts, Gothic Revival, folk art, or eclectic interior. Equally appealing as a display chair, porch rocker, library accent, or conversation piece.
