Beautiful Japanese painted 4-panel byobu (folding screen) "Plum Blossom, Peony, Iris". Signed and sealed by artist. Watercolor and ink on gold-leaf style paper. Silk brocade border. Lacquered brown wood frame with beautifully engraved copper corners and plaques showing age patina. Gorgeous silk brocade on back. Comes in a carboard storage box and with new eight black metal, easy to install hanging hooks. Kyoto, Japan, Showa Era, 1970s. Excellent condition - minimal age wear at edges of the panels and overall, no damage to the painting nor back, strong hinges, clean, sturdy, lacquered frame is in great shape. This byobu was kept in Kyoto Art Center for preserving design patterns.
