Fine Japanese painted 4-panel byobu (folding screen) "Akigusa" (Autumn Flowers) by Hideka. Yamato-E style. Signed and sealed by the artist. 24K gold pigment, gouache, watercolor and ink on paper. Silk brocade border. Lacquered black wood frame with beautifully engraved copper corners, plaques and medallions, showing age patina. Original label on the frame. Paper and on back. Comes in a carboard storage box. New eight black metal hooks for easy installation are included. Kyoto, Japan, Showa Era, 1970s. Excellent condition - no damage to the painting nor back, minimal age wear overall, strong hinges, clean, sturdy. This byobu was kept for decades in Kyoto Art Center for preserving design patterns.
