Crafted in the grand … Read more A decorative pair of hand-carved giltwood wall sconces produced by c. N. Firenze, italy, circa 1970s. Crafted in the grand florentine tradition, these elegant two-light sconces feature beautifully carved grape clusters, scrolling arms, acanthus leaves, and ribbon motifs. Their rich gilded finish and refined craftsmanship evoke the character of much earlier italian baroque and rococo designs, making them equally suitable for traditional, hollywood regency, or old world-inspired interiors. Each sconce was entirely hand-carved and finished by skilled artisans, displaying the depth, texture, and individuality associated with high-quality florentine decorative arts. The grapevine motif symbolizes abundance and prosperity and gives the pieces a distinctive sculptural presence even when not illuminated. The sconces originate from an old company stock and show very little evidence of prior use. One sconce had a small carved element professionally reattached. It is worth noting that this section was originally joined during production and had simply separated over time due to age. The repair has been carefully executed and is stable, preserving the overall integrity and appearance of the piece. Overall, the pair presents beautifully with a warm aged gilt patina and remains a striking example of italian decorative lighting from the 1970s, executed in a timeless historic style. Condition: very good vintage condition. One carved decorative element has been professionally reattached as described. Minor age-appropriate wear consistent with age and storage.
